CONIL

Conil is a very special place, a hidden gem on the Costa de la Luz, sometimes also known as the Spanish Algarve.
Conil is vibrant, exciting and offers a real taste of Spain and Spanish culture. Conil is the place where the Spanish take their holidays and so if you’re looking for a full English and Karaoke you’re in the wrong place!
You will hear the sounds of Spanish guitar, experience  flamenco, taste the tapas and the fino and generally immerse yourself in a culture to awaken your senses. You might also try your hand at kite surfing or body boarding, this coastline being the one which surfers flock to. Alternatively, sit back on the vast expanse of Conil’s long stretch of beaches and observe the activities of the locals and the holiday makers. There are some fabulous beach bars and you can while away many hours with a Tinto Verano, Sangria, Mojito or maybe just a cold Cerveza.
The beaches beyond -  La Fontanilla, Fuente de Gallo and Cala Aceite are pretty rocky coves while the beaches to the south of town, El Palmar, Los Caños de Meca and Zahara de los Atunes, attract a more bohemian surf crowd. Fantastic walks can be had in either direction. There is a great walk along the coast to the historic Cape of Trafalgar where Nelson famously defeated the French and Spanish fleet in 1805. The other direction will take you to the lighthouse.
Conil is a place to be outdoors whatever the weather. It is great for outdoor activities including walking or jogging along the beach, cycling, horse riding and surfing.
Food wise there is an abundance of restaurants serving fresh seafood, local dishes and tapas. There are also many cocktail bars and ice cream bars (heladerias). New restaurants and tapas bars pop up every season.
If shopping is your thing you’ll find plenty of shops to browse. Leather, surf shops and boutiques are plentiful. In the summer season you will find many tourist shops stay open until 01:00 am
There’s a weekly market on Avenida de la Musica every Friday selling  clothes, shoes, leather goods, food stuff (olives, nuts, churros) and other household items.
